The Ribbon Snake Window

Celebrate the year of the snake! This stained glass window features a coiled snake design. The intricate layering and knotting of the snake body resembles a Celtic knot design. The very special mottled orange glass stands out vibrantly against the antique wavy glass background.  Small clusters of three dimensional butterflies adorn the snake, in plum, cranberry, pale pink, yellow and orange glass. 

Drawing inspiration from the distinctive window frame, this piece addresses the complexity of the diamond pane sash through deliberate artistic choices. The serpentine form emerged as the perfect motif—providing sufficient visual weight. The luminous orange Oceana glass serves as the composition's defining element, harmonizing the design while ensuring the artwork maintains its visual integrity against the geometric backdrop.

The individual stained glass panes are glazed into a unique antique window sash. It is painted in a dark greenish blue color carefully selected to compliment the stained glass. The butterfly clusters are attached to the frame with a tube and prong system, allowing them to be removed for shipping and storage. (I'll send simple directions for assembly.) Brass hooks are installed at either side for easy hanging in your space. 

The window measures 29" wide, 31" tall.
