Ammonite Fossil Suncatcher Fremont

The inspiration for this piece is clear...it's sitting right there in the center. I've simply recreated the design of the real ammonite fossil, enlarged it, and rendered it in stained glass. The amber glass used in this piece is very special, made by Fremont Antique Glass, with an incredible color shifting quality. In different light it changes from a warm amber to a vibrant glowing aqua. The tentacles are clear glass with iridescence and crackle texture. The solder is a lovely patina that looks great with the fossil and the amber glass.

The ammonite lived in the seas between 240 - 65 million years ago, when they became extinct along with the dinosaurs. It is a common fossil, and this is a great specimen, with clear markings.

This stained glass piece measures 10" x 11.5". Small wire loops at the sides are strung with brown leather cord, ready to hang in your window. Perfect for natural history lovers!
