Ammonite Fossil Suncatcher

The inspiration for this piece is clear...it's sitting right there in the center. I've simply recreated the design of the real ammonite fossil, enlarged it, and rendered it in stained glass. Each piece of glass is a different shade and texture of amber glass, with the tentacles in fun textures of clear glass. The solder is a lovely pewter patina that looks great with the fossil and the amber glass.

The ammonite lived in the seas between 240 - 65 million years ago, when they became extinct along with the dinosaurs. It is a common fossil, and this is a great specimen, with clear markings.

This stained glass piece measures 10" x 11.5". Small wire loops at the sides are strung with brown leather cord, ready to hang in your window. Perfect for natural history lovers!
